In Loving Memory...our Grandpa Bear

Last night, Saturday, April 7th, my grandpa Bob past away peacefully in his home with his wife and son by his side. My grandfather was just diagnosed 3.5 weeks ago with terminal lymphoma and was only given 1-2 months to live. As tough as these last few weeks have been, I can honestly say that he was such a strong, couragious man. He never once complained or let us know his pain. We are all so very sad to see him go, however, we are all so lucky to have so many wonderful memories of him. Grandpa Bob got the name "Papa Bear" because when we were kids and we would stay the night at his house, he would come down the hallway with arms out wide by his side (sometimes wall to wall down the hallway), making bear sounds, ready to scare us. Another wonderful memory I have of my grandfather is the time he helped me build a doghouse for my other Grandpa, Harold's dog. Those are just a few of the memories I will cherish forever,...stories I will continue to tell Morgyn as she grows up about her Great Grandpa Bob. I am sad that she won't remember the times she made him smile and laugh, but am so happy knowing that he was around to see his great grand daughther and spend as much time with him as he did. About a week ago, I asked Grandpa how to say "I love you" in Norwegian and he told me, "El-ska-day." We know he is in heaven right now,...designing and building that stairway to heaven, making sure they are just perfect for when we arrive. Grandpa, you will be missed, but DEFINETLY not forgotten...you have touched the hearts of many!
El-ska-day,
Nicole and Morgyn

Dear Nicole and family,
I am so sorry about your grandpa Bob. He was, is a great man, and will be missed by all. He loved you grand kids with a passion, and it carried right down to his great grand kids. He is in Heaven, probley with a level and hammer, fixing up the place just like you said. If we can do anything, please call on us. We loved him to as well as your grandma Millie, and think of you all as an extention of our family.
Our love and prayers go to you and yours.
Love Kristi and Dave

I'm so sorry, Nicole, to hear about your Grandpa. It sounds like he lived such a long and happy life, and has so many people to remember him and pass on his way of living for many generations. How lucky for Morgyn to have met him, (and what a cute photo of the two of them)! I am thinking about you all!

Nicole, Thanks for the beautiful posting of dad and Morgyn. It was only 18 days we shared with him after finding out about his illness but each and everyday was filled with sooo much love. Tracy and you supported mom more than you will know. You are special nieces with a very special grandfather. Love to all, Uncle Larry
