Wow, I can't believe the day has finally come where Miss Morgyn is starting her 1st day of Kindergarten! Even though it seems time has blown by so quickly, I've been really looking forward to this BIG day for Morgyn. Those of you that know her, know what a social child she is and know she's been ready for this for a long time!!
She woke up in a very happy mood last Friday, standing at the top of the stairs with a smile, saying, "Mom, todays the day I go to school!" I wish I could have caught that on camera! I am very excited about having her on a routine now and am even more excited to watch her grow and learn everyday! We've worked on a lot of things at home such as counting by 5's and 10's, writing her name, the sounds of all the letters, her address and phone #, and her favorite right now is working in her math book! So far I can tell she's not a fan of trying to read/sound out the words in a book, so I'm hoping that will change soon with school starting! ( I think she may get this trait from me....I never really liked reading as a child! Just liked to look at all the pictures.)
It was a gorgeous day out, so we decided to walk the 2 blocks to and from school :) Due to budget cuts, they are no longer running bus routes for houses within 1 mile radius from the school. This REALLY bummed Morgyn out as she was wanting to be a BIG girl and ride the bus. When I picked her up afterschool, she was trying to get on one. I had to remind her that none of those buses were going to our house :( Poor girl. I guess this is more incentive to get out and take a walk to and from, rain or shine, or snow for that matter, on her school days. And another good excuse to take Tucker for a short walk :)
A sister kiss for good luck :)
Yah...we made it!!! First day of Kindergarten!
Morgyn and her principal, Mr. Jeff Longren (or Mr. L to the children!) VERY VERY nice guy...met and spoke with him quite a few times!! Told Morgyn if she wasn't good she'd be sent to his office and her eyes got wide real quick. He just laughed and said, "No, it's not like that Morgyn, I enjoy and like kids to come and visit me in my office!"
Room #19, Mrs. Follette's room
She found her name and seat right away :) Kids in Mrs. Follette's class do not having a set seating assignment. She switches the around daily/weekly as she likes everyone to be friends with everyone. She says "her class is a family!" I love her already!
Morgyn found her locker...lucky #7!! She still has alittle bit of a tough time opening it, but I"m sure by the 2nd or 3rd day of school she'll have it all figured out!!
Saying my goodbye's and snapping one more picture!! I shed a few happy tears as I walked home, making sure Morgyn didnt see them and worry about me. I was already getting anxious to pick her up at 3:25pm just so I can hear all about her 1st day of class! She was sooo excited and told me "We got to go on the stage and take a bow!" Yes, so I've heard from other parent's that Mrs. Follette has a stage in her classroom and often the kids get to use it...something I know Morgyn will love~
